Shazia Marri Urges National Resolve to Ensure Success of Anti-Polio Campaign

Sanghar (Hasnain Ashiq Saand) Pakistan Peoples Party Parliamentarians (PPPP) Central Information Secretary Shazia Marri has stressed the need for sustained national commitment to eliminate polio, describing the disease as a continuing public health challenge requiring unwavering attention and coordinated action.

In a statement issued in connection with the ongoing anti-polio campaign, Ms Marri said refusal or neglect to vaccinate children weakens the campaign and increases health risks for young populations. She emphasized that ensuring timely vaccination is essential to prevent further spread of the virus.

She paid tribute to frontline polio workers, calling them vital contributors to public health, and urged authorities to provide them with adequate facilities, security and respect while they carry out their duties.

Ms Marri warned that misinformation and vaccine hesitancy could undermine years of progress and pose serious risks to future generations. She appealed to parents and guardians to ensure their children receive all required vaccinations.

She further stressed that accountability must be ensured wherever shortcomings in campaign implementation are identified, adding that effective coordination among health authorities, local governments and communities remains crucial to achieving a polio-free Pakistan.

Ms Marri also acknowledged the resilience of polio-affected individuals, noting that despite challenges they continue to make meaningful contributions to society.
