Sundrani-Brohi Dispute Flares Up Again: Four Killed Including Two Brothers in Shikarpur Firing; Death Toll Reaches 10 Including Bystanders

Shikarpur (Report؛Ahsan Abro) – Armed motorcyclists opened fire on a car near the toll plaza on Larkana Road in Shikarpur, killing four individuals, including two brothers. The deceased have been identified as Noor Muhammad Sundrani, his brother Nizam Sundrani, Adam Sundrani, all residents of village Shadi Khan, and the car driver Rasool Bux Marfani.

In protest against the killings, the victims' families staged a sit-in by placing the bodies on the Larkana–Shikarpur road. The protest ended after a few hours, and the bodies were shifted to the hospital, where legal formalities were completed before being handed over to the heirs.

It is worth noting that the bloody conflict between the Sundrani and Brohi communities is not new. A year ago, a dispute over a robbery led to violence between the two sides, resulting in six deaths. Following that incident, a tribal council (jirga) was held by local elders, during which the Brohi side was ordered to pay blood money of 5 million rupees for four killings (1.25 million rupees per murder). Similarly, the Sundrani side was fined 8 million rupees for two proven killings.

This jirga was held at the residence of MPA Imtiaz Shaikh in Shikarpur, and a total settlement amount of 19.1 million rupees was decided.

However, not even a full year had passed when the conflict reignited, leading to four more murders. So far, a total of 10 individuals, including bystanders from both sides, have lost their lives in the ongoing dispute.

The atmosphere in the area remains tense, and police have launched further investigations and operations.
