Sanghar: District Vigilance Committee Meeting Held to Curb Child Labour and Forced Labour
Sanghar (Hasnain Ashiq Saand) A meeting of the District Vigilance Committee on the prevention of child labour and forced labour was held under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Sanghar, Ms. Sarah Javed, at her office. The session was attended by officials from various departments, legal experts, civil society representatives, and members of the press.
Addressing the meeting, Deputy Commissioner Sarah Javed emphasized the strict implementation of laws enacted to eliminate forced labour and child exploitation in the district. She instructed all committee members to visit brick kilns across the district and raise awareness regarding child labour and forced work.
She directed the Labour Department officer to conduct visits to both registered and unregistered brick kilns, accompanied by the Assistant Director of the Child Protection Unit and the President of the Hari Welfare Association. A comprehensive list of kilns involved in forced child labour must be submitted to the Deputy Commissioner’s office within 15 days so that legal action can be initiated against violators.
The Deputy Commissioner also stressed the importance of providing support, medical care, legal assistance, and rehabilitation for victims of forced labour. Relevant officials briefed the meeting on the measures taken so far to curb child labour and illegal employment practices.
Among those present at the meeting were President of District Bar Association Sharif Masrani, District Health Officer Dr. Daulat Jamali, Additional Director Social Welfare Muslim Farooq, District Officer Primary Education Liaqat Chandio, DSP Long Khan Shar, media representative Mubeen Dars, and District Council Officer Sikandar Lander, along with other committee members.
