Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai’s message is a universal message of love, peace and humanity: Sindh Governor
Sanghar (Hasnain Ashiq Saand) Sindh Governor Nihal Hashmi has said that Hazrat Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai was not only a great poet of Sindh but also a visionary thinker and guide for the entire humanity, whose message of love, peace, brotherhood and tolerance continues to inspire people across the world.
He expressed these views while talking to the media after laying a traditional chadar and offering Fateha at the shrine of Hazrat Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai on the occasion of his 283rd annual Urs. On the occasion, the governor also listened to Shah Jo Raag and distributed clothes among deserving women.
The Sindh Governor said that around four and a half centuries ago, when modern facilities such as printing presses, cameras and advanced means of transportation were not available, Shah Latif travelled across Sindh on foot and conveyed the message of humanity, love and peace through his poetry.
He said that the teachings of Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai were not limited to Sindh or Pakistan but carried a universal message for the whole world. His philosophy teaches love and respect not only for human beings but also for animals, trees, plants and nature.
The governor stressed that people of Sindh should study Shah Jo Risalo more extensively so that the new generation could become familiar with Shah Latif’s thoughts and teachings. He said the participation of people belonging to different religions, sects and languages in the Urs celebrations reflected the message of religious harmony, tolerance and humanity promoted by Shah Bhittai.
Talking about political matters, Nihal Hashmi said political differences were a natural part of democracy, but all political forces should work together on issues of national interest. He expressed hope that work on the Matiari Motorway project would resume during the current year.
Speaking about the Indus River, he said, “No one can deprive the land of Shah Bhittai of its water. The Indus is our mother and will continue to flow forever.” He added that Pakistan had full capability to safeguard its national security and would not allow any conspiracy against the country’s interests to succeed.
Federal Minister for Religious Affairs Kheal Das Kohistani, Prime Minister Youth Programme Sindh Coordinator Fahad Shafiq, Soorath Thebo, district administration officials and other notable personalities were also present on the occasion.
