Rumors About Closure of Donkey Cart Stand Are Baseless: Chairman Municipal Committee Tando Adam

Chairman of the Municipal Committee Tando Adam, Ghulam Murtaza Junejo, has dismissed rumors regarding the closure of the donkey cart stand, terming them as completely baseless. He clarified that there are no plans to shut down the stand. Instead, due to its deteriorated condition, a reconstruction project has been approved to rebuild the facility for the convenience of local cart owners and laborers.
Speaking at a press conference held at the Tando Adam Press Club, the chairman stated that the Municipal Council has already approved the project, and a sum of Rs. 40 million has been allocated in the budget. He emphasized that no construction work has yet commenced, and no machinery has been moved to the site.
Junejo expressed concern that some elements are trying to politicize this important developmental initiative and create unnecessary controversy, which is regrettable. He further explained that a few months ago, a delegation of donkey cart owners approached him with complaints about the dilapidated condition of the stand. Based on their request, a proposal was drafted and lawfully approved by the council.
He asserted that anyone with objections should follow the legal course and approach the council, adding that if the council decides to cancel the project, he would accept the decision. However, he warned against using protests to disturb the city’s peace and law and order.
Addressing allegations of land grabbing, Chairman Junejo categorically denied any such involvement, saying that the committee is actively working to eliminate illegal encroachments and beautify the city. He alleged that during a recent protest, people from outside the city were brought in to stage a drama, which unnecessarily disturbed the local population.
He warned that if the construction of the stand is halted and the current structure collapses, those opposing the project will be held responsible for any resulting damage. Junejo added that, in line with party policy, development work is ongoing across the city. Twelve disposals are operational, although some issues persist due to electricity load-shedding.
The chairman also informed that most of the city’s roads have been completed, and the remaining routes, including Bangla Road, will be finalized soon. He concluded by stating that each municipal councilor has been provided with Rs. 5 million to carry out development work in their respective areas.
