Breach in Sui Kandar Canal Inundates Dozens of Acres in Tando Adam

Sanghar (Hasnain Ashiq Saand) A 10-foot-wide breach developed in the Sui Kandar canal near RD 73 and 74, close to Foto Hingoro village in Tando Adam on Tuesday, submerging standing crops on more than 50 acres of farmland.

According to local growers, including Nadir Brohi and Ismail Hingoro, water from the breach flooded their fields, destroying cotton, millet and other crops. Farmers said the water flow into the agricultural land continued unabated till the filing of this report, as the irrigation staff had not yet managed to plug the breach.

Growers pointed out that a similar breach had occurred at the same location around a month and a half ago. They claimed that such incidents repeatedly occur on Wednesdays, raising suspicions of negligence or foul play.

They urged the irrigation authorities to reinforce the canal banks permanently to prevent recurrent breaches and safeguard agricultural lands from further damage.
