Tando Adam: Sanitation Workers Clash with Shopkeepers, Protest Blocks Hyderabad Road

Sanghar (Hasnain Ashiq Saand) A confrontation broke out between municipal sanitation workers and local shopkeepers on Hyderabad Road in Tando Adam during a routine cleaning operation, leading to a protest and road blockade by the sanitation staff.

According to the sanitation team, the incident occurred while workers were cleaning near the Eidgah area. Due to strong winds, dust was blown into nearby shops, allegedly provoking a heated argument. Shopkeeper Ibrahim and his sons reportedly hurled abuses and physically assaulted the municipal workers.

In response, the sanitation staff parked garbage-filled tractor trolleys across Hyderabad Road, blocking traffic and staging a protest. The workers raised slogans against the behavior of the shopkeepers and demanded protection and justice.

Speaking to the media, sanitation in-charge Abdul Hameed Baloch, along with Tanveer Ranjhani and Vicky Masih, said, “Our team works tirelessly day and night to keep the city clean. It is unacceptable for our workers to be verbally abused and assaulted while doing their job. We demand justice and respect for our work.”

The protest prompted the arrival of Municipal Committee Chairman Ghulam Murtaza Junejo and Vice Chairman Malik Zulfiqar, who assured the workers of a fair investigation and necessary action. Following their assurances, the protesting staff cleared the road and resumed work.
