Pakistan, India DGsMO Hold Hotline Contact, Agree to Maintain Ceasefire
The Director Generals of Military Operations (DGsMO) from Pakistan and India held a communication via the military hotline and reached a mutual understanding to uphold the ongoing ceasefire.
According to sources, this contact was established to discuss and shape the future strategy concerning the Line of Control (LoC) ceasefire. The initial round of discussions between the two sides has reportedly concluded.
Indian media outlets reported that both countries' military leadership agreed not to target civilian areas and to refrain from any exchange of fire along the LoC. Additionally, both sides have pledged not to use drones for any cross-border activity.
Earlier in the day, Indian media had claimed that talks between the DGsMO were about to commence. That communication has now taken place.
It is worth mentioning that, a few days earlier, the United States had brokered a ceasefire agreement between Pakistan and India, following which President Donald Trump announced the cessation of hostilities. During that time, a DGsMO-level dialogue was also scheduled for May 12.
