25th Death Anniversary of Renowned Classical Vocalist Ustad Wazir Ali Khan Observed in Tando Adam
Sanghar (Hasnain Ashiq Saand) The 25th death anniversary of renowned Sindhi classical vocalist Ustad Wazir Ali Khan, belonging to the famous Gwalior Gharana, was observed with simplicity in Tando Adam. On this occasion, his disciples Ustad Nadir Ali Khan, Ustad Mahtab Ali Khan, Sikandar Ali Khan, along with prominent citizens, social leaders, and literary figures including Ashiq Hussain Saand, Gul Hassan Lakho, Raees Zahid Hussain Mari, journalist Khalid Hussain Khaskheli, Ali Raza Sand, and others visited his final resting place at Haji Ismail Shah Graveyard, laid floral wreaths, and offered Fateha.
Speaking to the media, former secretary of Sindhi Adabi Sangat Tando Adam branch, poet and writer Gul Hassan Lakho, journalist Ashiq Hussain Saand, Khalid Khaskheli, Raees Zahid Hussain Mari, and others said that Ustad Wazir Ali Khan initially learned music from his father Ustad Jamal Khan and later received formal classical training from the great Ustad Manzoor Ali Khan, earning fame across the world.
They recalled that Ustad Wazir Ali Khan performed in the USA, Dubai, and other countries, and gained special recognition for singing classical ragas in English. He also sang for Radio Pakistan and Radio Hyderabad, and was regarded among the top-ranking vocalists of the Khansahab tradition.
Ustad Wazir Ali Khan passed away in Hyderabad on August 10, 2001, due to cardiac arrest.
