Crackdown Against Electricity Theft in Sanghar: DC Imran Hassan Khawaja
Sanghar (Hasnain Ashiq Saand) Deputy Commissioner (DC) Sanghar, Dr. Imran Hassan Khawaja, has directed strict action against electricity theft across the district. He emphasized the need to curb power theft and ensure the timely payment of electricity bills. He warned that those involved in power theft, including officials, would face legal action.
Presiding over a meeting of the District Enforcement Committee for Anti-Theft Electricity, DC Khawaja instructed authorities to identify individuals interfering in WAPDA’s operations and register FIRs against them. He highlighted that despite a large number of complaints regarding electricity theft, the number of registered FIRs remains low.
He urged law enforcement agencies to take immediate action and increase the number of cases against those involved in power theft. The federal government is taking serious measures to combat electricity theft, and assistance from Pakistan Rangers is also being sought in this regard.
Furthermore, the DC instructed assistant commissioners of all tehsils to actively participate in the crackdown. He also stressed the importance of strengthening coordination between the police and HESCO (Hyderabad Electric Supply Company) to ensure timely action against those engaged in electricity theft.
